Arrest made in connection to Arkport Central School lockdown

ARKPORT, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - An arrest has been made in connection with Thursday's lockdown at the Arkport Central School.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Office has charged Eric Carman, 16, of Arkport, with two counts of Making a Terroristic Threat. Both charges are felonies.

Police say Carman made two anonymous reports of an impending shooting at the school during field day events.

All of this led to some tense moments Thursday morning at the school. But after investigating, police said there was no credible threat to students and staff.

Normal operations at the school didn't return until about 11 a.m. Thursday.

Carman was arraigned in the Town of Fremont Court and was taken to the Steuben County Jail on $10,000 bail. Carman will reappear in court at a later date.
