Boy Scout food drive supplies food to pantry

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Local boy scouts are taking a stand against hunger with their annual "Fill the Tent" campaign.

Scouts will be collecting food to help local pantries feed those in need.

They dropped off donation bags at area homes Saturday morning.

To help the cause, you can leave non-perishable foods in the bags and the scouts will pick it up next Saturday morning.

"It's one of those small ways to give back to the community, where every chance we get, not everyone can make large financial donations but everyone can make some small donations, some cans of food or some boxes of macaroni, things like that," said district director of Five Rivers Council Karl Ziegenfus.

If you didn't receive a donation bag, you can still help by donating items to your local Tops Market next Sunday, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The donated goods will benefit local food pantries.
