CINCINNATUS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The Cortland County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred just before 7:00 Sunday morning.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the one car accident occurred on Route 41 near the intersection of Knickerbocker Road in the Town of Cincinnatus.
Investigators say a person was driving a late model 4-door passenger car north on Route 41 when it left the roadway rounding a curve. As it left the roadway, it struck an embankment and went airborne, shearing a telephone pole and rolling several times.
The driver was the only person in the car at the time of the accident.
Route 41 was closed for three hours Sunday morning as officers investigated and emergency crews removed the vehicle and the debris.
The name of the deceased is not being released until the next of kin are notified.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
