Chuck King resigns from City of Corning

CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - The director of the Parks and Recreation department for the City of Corning resigned from his position earlier this week.

Chuck King resigned on Monday morning after being with the department since 2005. He was the director since 2011 and resigned to pursue other career goals according to City Manager Mark Ryckman.

Alex Hamilton, the recreation leader, is acting on an interim basis to assist with running the department.

It could take a few weeks or a few months until the position is filled.

"The salary range for the position is $60,000 to $92,000," Ryckman said. "Concerning qualifications and the process for identifying people with those qualifications, I am still working through the civil service process to determine those requirements."

Ryckman adds it's a competitive class position through civil service and it requires a civil service test, but at this point an examination hasn't been scheduled.
