New City of Corning Police & Firefighters Sworn In

CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - A Police officer and five Firefighters were sworn in the City of Corning, Tuesday, in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Fire Lt. Jeffrey Brenning will replace Thomas Margeson. Margeson retired in January, after pleading guilty to selling heroin in the Horseheads area.

Brenning has been employed with the city since March 2014.

"I have grown up in this community and to be able to protect people here is a gratifying feeling," Brenning said.

Brenning has family ties to the Corning Fire Department. His father got hired in the early 80's as a part time firefighter and then worked his way up to "Firefighter in charger of acting Lieutenants."

Firefighter Steven L. Phelps is also being promoted to Lieutenant. He has been employed with the City since March 19, 2001.

Christopher Willis was appointed to Firefighter on August 28, 2017.

Jeffrey Robinson was appointed to Firefighter on August 28, 2017.

Jonathon Spaulding was appointed to Firefighter on February 22, 2018.
