UPDATE: School bus in multi-vehicle accident had security camera

VILLAGE OF PAINTED POST, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - UPDATE: (10:53 a.m.): 18 News has learned that there were security cameras on the school bus involved in the accident. The video has been turned over to New York State Police.

UPDATE (1:03 p.m.): Students were on the way home after the school had a half-day for the district.

UPDATE (12:57 p.m.): The Corning-Painted Post Area school district has posted the following statement on their website regarding the accident.

We are aware of an accident in Painted Post involving a Middle School bus, route number 3404. First responders are on the scene. Students are safe and as of 11:55 are being transferred to a new bus to be taken home. The district will communicate further information as it becomes available. School officials will also be in contact directly with parents/guardians of students who were on this bus.

UPDATE (12:44 p.m.): Four people, including two children, have been taken to the hospital for precautionary measures after a multi-vehicle accident involving a Corning-Painted Post Area school bus.

About 50 students were on the bus when the accident occurred, but no injuries were reported.

Two adults were taken to Robert Packer Hospital after airbags went off in their Chevrolet Malibu. Two children who were on the bus were taken to Guthrie Corning Hospital.

The accident occurred at 11:30 a.m. and was cleared at 12:15 p.m. 

Firefighters say the Malibu, an SUV, and a pickup truck were stopped when the bus rammed into the vehicles, causing a chain reaction.

A Corning-Painted Post Area school district school bus was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on East High Street near the Painted Post Fire station.
