WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - The Farm Sanctuary has a new resident, a few weeks ago Bonnie the cow was rescued from Holland New York, just outside of Buffalo. Bonnie survived the winter months living in the woods after running away from her farm, but she wasn't living alone, trail cam video shows Bonnie living with a herd of deer until finally a few weeks ago Farm Sanctuary was able to rescue her.
Tara Hess, Watkins Glen Shelter Director says that after two weeks, three attempts, and a little bit of tranquilizer, they were able to capture Bonnie and bring her to the sanctuary.
"Getting her to calm down, getting her used to the cattle and then she'll be able to go outside," Says Hess, "she'll be able to go out, we've got acres and acres of pastures and also wooded lands, and deer so she'll be able to go out soon and still do all the things that she wants to do without ever having to fend for themselves."
Bonnie will call the Farm Sanctuary her home for the rest of her life.
