UPDATE: Three Arrested in Southside Dumpster Death Investigation

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - UPDATE: Elmira Police have arrested three individuals in connection to Tuesday morning's death investigation. 

Fabian A Bonaparte, 36, Kharii E Monroe, 20 and a 17-year-old male have been arrested and are in the Elmira City Lockup pending arraignment.

The three Elmira residents are charged with First Degree Manslaughter. 

The identity of the deceased is being withheld, pending family notification.

The Elmira Police Department is conducting a death investigation after a body was found in a dumpster behind the Samaritan Center around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the dumpster, in the area of S. Main St. and Mt. Zoar St. for a report of a suspicious condition.

Officers located an individual inside of a dumpster and emergency medical personnel responded, however the person was already deceased.

The 911 caller was interviewed and he stated that he had observed a fight in the area where a person was knocked down. The caller then saw this person being carried away from the scene of the fight towards the area of Mt. Zoar St.  A short time later, the witness grew concerned and contacted 911. Officers responded and located the deceased person.

Officers were able to identify the location where the initial confrontation took place. Several persons of interest were identified and brought to the Elmira Police Department to be interviewed.  

At this time no arrests have been made. The Elmira Police Department and the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office are in the process of determining appropriate charges.

The identity of the deceased male is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Police say this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. 

They are asking any witnesses or anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them.
