Elmira Police searching for robbery suspects

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - The Elmira Police Department is searching for two robbery suspects.

Around 12:30 a.m. on Friday morning, officers responded to the area of Diven Avenue and Grand Central Avenue for a report of a man yelling for help. The man told officers that he had just been robbed.

The victim told officers that he was walking north in the 1300 block of Baldwin St., when he was approached from behind by two men. The men were dressed in all black clothing and wearing masks. 

Both men were approximately five feet, six inches tall. Both suspects displayed handguns and demanded money from the victim. 

The victim was assaulted and his money and cell phone were taken from him. No shots were fired during the incident. 

One of the masks was described as a black and white camouflage ski mask and the other mask was described as a half mask. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. 

The suspects were last seen running east on Diven Avenue. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the Elmira Police Department is asking any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them.
