ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Driver of car that killed Alisha Butler charged
The following is a news release from Chemung County Sheriff's Office
On April 14, 2017, at 5:55 P.M., the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to West Hill Road in the Town of Elmira for a report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A 2004 Honda Pilot operated by OMAYRA MARTIN, age 32, of 824 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, New York was traveling east on West Hill Road, when the driver lost control and exited the north shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle entered a ditch, struck a tree, overturned, and came to rest on its roof.
As the result of the collision, MARTIN and five (5) juvenile passengers were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Three (3) of those juvenile passengers were air lifted to trauma centers with life threatening injuries. One passenger, ALISHIA BUTLER, age 15, of Marion Street, Elmira, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the incident and announce the arrest of MARTIN, who has been charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide, a Class E Felony, Assault in the Third Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both Class A Misdemeanors. MARTIN is being held in the Chemung County Jail pending her arraignment in Chemung County Court.
