ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - After an ordeal that lasted several days-- a little girl is back home with her family. Five year old Lily Ortiz returned to Rochester on a flight with her grandmother Sunday evening.
Lily's family walked through the Greater Rochester International Airport carrying signs and waiting to finally put closure on a week they will never forget.
" Long nights, days go into nights and it's just good to finally have some closure to it and see her home." Jose Peo a family friend said.
Peo tells News 8, Lilly has been missing since Wednesday. Police say, Lily's biological mother Renee Stong Abducted Lily from her Rochester bus stop, then flew to California where the two were spotted at a Motel 6.
" There's no way a psychotic woman should be able to go across the country and stay overnight in a different state.Before we even find her.That's not right. " Jose said.
Ines Torres, Lily's grandmother has had custody of her since she was one year old. Yesterday Torres flew to California to bring her granddaughter home.
"She was so excited and so happy She says mommy don't leave me again. She think I left her." Torres said.
Now with Lily in the arms of her loved ones they can finally put this week behind them.
Stong remains in police custody. The Rochester Police Department will send updates later this week.
