ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - An Addison teenager is breaking age barriers.
Jessica Hamilton is only 15-years-old and she's already a licensed student pilot. Hamilton took her first solo glide in October at Harris Hill.
She's still very young but she knew the skies were calling her name at the age of 8.
"I flew a simulator and I was like oh my gosh, what is this, so I was super interested and I really, really wanted to do it, I just been doing it since then," said Hamilton.
She's a student at Harris Hill's Junior Program and also a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
For Hamilton, flying is freedom. She also tells 18 News "I love aviation and gliding is fun and be all on your own, it's basically just you, it's silent, except for the wind, it's a lot of fun especially when you're thermalling and you got other people next to you, birds, you can just see forever."
Hamilton will compete in the Snowbird Gliding Competition at Harris Hill on November 25th.
