Increasing clouds for Tuesday night ahead of our next weather-maker. An isolated shower is possible and lows in the mid to upper teens.

Surface low pressure over the Great Lakes pushes a warm front through the region early Wednesday. Temperatures warm to near freezing by morning hours. Chance for a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain returns by late morning as the warm front lifts. A light glazing of ice is possible on untreated roadways, a tenth of an inch or less. Winds increasing out of the south with gusts of 30+ mph at times. This strong southerly flow helps temperatures into the low 40s by the afternoon. Wintry mix then transitions to rain for late afternoon into the evening. A cold rain follows for the overnight with temperatures just above freezing. Steuben and counties to the west may see some wet snow mix in late. Total rainfall into Thursday nearing 1″, especially in the Northern Tier. Rainfall combined with recent snowfall and icy on the rivers creates a concern for flooding in poor drainage areas.

A cold front passes early Thursday and temperatures drop from morning to afternoon. All rain transitions to light snowfall, under 2″ for most of the Twin Tiers. Highs Thursday in the mid to upper 30s and lows in the teens. Chance for snows showers continues for Friday with highs in the 20s. Below average temperatures continue for the weekend, along with the chance for light snow showers to flurries.
