The Storm Prediction Center has put much of our area under a slight risk for severe weather as a line of heavy rain and storms approaches the area. Starting primarily in the mid-afternoon to early evening hours, locally heavy downpours will enter the region. The risk for thunderstorms that could turn severe will primarily exist during the overnight hours, but rain is in store for the majority of the week as well. Rainfall totals will range anywhere from half an inch to an inch and a half throughout the Twin Tiers through Tuesday morning. At this point, the NWS has not issued any advisories or warnings in regard to flooding but if you live in a flood-prone area this line of rain will be something you will want to keep an eye on.
A drop in temperatures will kick off the work week, with highs struggling to get out of the mid 50s. The possibility of a wintry mix exists for Monday evening as lows will drop near freezing. We return to the 70s towards the end of the week, and remain in the 60s through the weekend.
