iMatter hosts 11th annual festival

ELMIRA, N.Y. - Combating suicide can be difficult, especially for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

The iMatter foundation aims to defeat it, one step at a time. iMatter returned for it's 11th year this weekend. The foundation aims to help teens and young adults struggling with drug abuse or mental illness.

iMatter works within the community to help those in need. They want them to know that that they are not alone and there are resources available to help them.

Through donations, the foundation is able to put on a festival every year. The festival features a number of bands for a free concert series, merchandise, and activities and games for children.

Admission is always free. This year about 3,500 people showed up. As a result of the work of iMatter, Chemung County has become an area with one of the lowest suicide rates in the state of New York.
