CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Residents at a local nursing home received a special visitor Thursday.
A miniature therapy horse from Tender Grace Miniature Horse toured the Corning Center.
The visit was part of the center's Happy Horse Visit.
Residents were all smiles with their special guest.
Residents say the mini horses were a welcome surprise.
"I had decided in January I was going to rescue a miniature horse for my granddaughter and that led to my niece sending me a website about miniature horse therapy and I knew that was my calling right then, says Cathy Fortier, President and Founder of Tender Grace Miniature Horse Therapy. "It's just amazing to me how a horse can get through a soul we people just sometimes can't."
This was the second time the mini horse paid a visit to the Corning Center.
Tender Grace Miniature Horse Therapy is a not for profit organization that brings miniature horses into nursing homes to visit with residents.
