AMBER ALERT Canceled: Missing Montour Falls infant safely located in Geneva

MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Gionna Harter, the 17-day-old baby that went missing from Montour Falls early Thursday morning, has been safely located.

The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office announced that Gionna was located with her mother, 31-year-old Katrina Harter, in the City of Geneva. They were located by the Geneva Police Department and New York State Police.

The baby was taken from her home, on Rock Cabin Road in Montour Falls, by Katrina early Thursday morning.

The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office says that Katrina Harter was living with an 'acquaintance' who was supposed to get custody of the baby.

The Sheriff's Office goes on to say that Harter never received paperwork regarding the family court ruling, and will most likely not face criminal charges because when she turned herself and her baby into the Geneva Police Department, she still legally had custody of the baby.

Harter was issued an order of protection from the 'acquaintance', who now has custody of the baby.

The matter is scheduled for family court at a later date.

The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office thanked the general public for providing tips and over 100 leads throughout seven counties.

This is a developing story. We hope to bring you more information as it is made available.
