ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) - After the recent winter storm, there is a lot of shoveling to be done. When shoveling large amounts of snow, it can be easy to hurt yourself in the process.
You want to make sure that you watch your back. Keep your back flat and try not to hunch over. You also want to use your legs to help you lift the snow.
It's not good to pick up large piles of snow. Too much snow on the shovel can strain your back and cause pain the next day.
Shoveling can also help to burn calories. Be sure to bundle up while outdoors to avoid frostbite.
