New York State Police say it was medical condition that led to Pine Valley crash

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Authorities said they believe it was a medical condition that led to a, now deadly, crash last week on Route 14 in Pine Valley.

Troopers said they believe the driver of this white Jeep, 71-year-old Hilbert Steyer of Millerton, suffered a medical condition while driving.

Witnesses said his Jeep crossed the center line and ran into an oncoming Pepsi truck. The crash caused the truck to careen into a house just off the road.

The driver of the Pepsi truck, 71-year-old Curtis Williamson of Cicero, is hospitalized. He had been in stable condition but was just downgraded to critical. He suffered chest injuries in the crash.
