Over 100 motorcyclists turn out for Matteson children benefit

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. - Last month, we heard the story of Matthew and Harolyn Matteson, a couple who was tragicly killed in a motorcycle accident. Today a benefit was held to raise money for the 3 children they left behind.

The Horseheads Legion dedicated their 9th annual dice run to the Matteson children. Over 200 people came out in the rain to show their support.

The Legion took donations, auctioned off prizes and sold raffle tickets all to go toward the Matteson children.

Hundreds of local organizations also donated, including Wegmans, Jubilee Market and many more.

The fundraiser started at 10am in Eldridge park where the family was able to greet the supporters. It ended at the Horseheads Legion where food, drinks and music awaited the riders.

Harolyn's mother said "It means an awful lot to us. Elmira in general gets a bad name for alot of the wrong reasons but the whole Elmira community and the biker community especially has just been so overwhelmingly supportive. We just can't thank you enough for the goodwill and the good thoughts that have come into this especially on a terrible day like today, its been wonderful."
