Pennsylvania State Police investigating after fatal overnight accident

WELLS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (18 NEWS) - UPDATE (9:15 AM): At 10:47 PM on Monday, a dark colored pick up truck traveling south on Route 328, about a quarter of a mile from the New York State line, impacted the rear end of a lawn mower traveling on the same road in the same direction.  

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the lawn mower received severe damage and the driver of the truck, Ryan Austin, 24, of Middlebury, fled the scene, traveling south to the intersection of Route 328 and Route 549.

The driver of the lawn mower, Robert Bolt, 52, of Millerton, was fatally injured.

Austin was apprehended and charges are currently pending.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after an accident on Route 328 just over the PA border in Wells Township Monday night.

Areas of Route 328 and 549 were closed overnight, the Chemung County Sheriff's Office telling 18 News those roads are now back open.

We're told the Sheriff's Office was there to assist with traffic control until Pennsylvania State Police could respond.
