Runners hit the streets of Montour Falls

MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Hundreds of people hit the streets running across the Twin Tiers for St. Patrick's day.

The annual Shamrock 5K run and walk took place in Schuyler County Saturday morning.

Dozens of runners hit the streets of Montour Falls to cover a 3.1 mile distance.

Runners say there is no better feeling than crossing the finish line.

"It's awesome just to be out and doing this on such a beautiful day and maybe get to enjoy some beers after is always good too, you earn them," said runner Scotie Jacobs.

"There's over 70 people, we more than doubled our numbers from last year so it's always a good thing to see that your event is creating more interest and more people are learning about it and coming out to enjoy it," said organizer Marybeth Wolf.

The race is in it's second year.  The proceeds will benefit the Seneca Film Festival.
