HAMMONDSPORT, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - The Finger Lakes Seaplanes took glorious flights over Keuka lake Saturday.
People got the chance to get up close and personal with the aircrafts at Deopt Park in Hammondsport.
It's the annual Seaplane Homecoming and the end of summer event dedicated to American aviator Glenn Curtiss.
Curtiss was born in Hammondsport in 1878 and made flying on and off the water a reality on Hammondsport and Keuka Lake.
Pilot Kevin D'Angelo says the aircraft is great for getting in and out of areas especially Florida who was hit hard by Hurricane Irma.
"My friends down there with seaplanes are delivering supplies and making a land in the water and don't have to worry about the airports," said D'Angelo.
The event drew crowds and attendees were able to learn a great deal about why water flying is so satisfying and exciting.
The seaplanes will be at Keuka Lake Sunday, September 17.
There will also be a vintage car show. For more information visit https://wingsandwheelshammondsport.com/
