Six Flags to purchase Darien Lake

DARIEN LAKE, N.Y. (WIVB-TV) - Six Flags has entered into an agreement to purchase five theme parks, including Darien Lake. 

Six Flags-  the world’s largest regional theme park company- previously owned Darien Lake from 1995 (under the name Premier Parks) to 2006. 

The company has acquired the lease rights for the five parks, all of which are currently owned by  EPR Properties and were previously operated by  Premier Parks, LLC of Oklahoma City. 

The transaction is expected to be closed by June. 

The other parks being purchased in the agreement are as follows: 

  • Wet n’ Wild Splashtown, Houston’s largest waterpark
  • Wet n’ Wild Phoenix, the largest waterpark in Arizona
  • Frontier City, in Oklahoma City landscape
  • White Water Bay, near Frontier City
