Suspect in Binghamton University student's death arrested in Nicaragua

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -

Nicaragua National Police confirm to ABC News that Orlando Tercero was arrested on Tuesday in connection the murder of Binghamton University nursing student Haley Anderson.  

22-year-old Anderson, of Long Island, was found dead on Friday inside an Oak Street residence in Binghamton.

Police named Tercero a person of interest in Anderson's death last week.

The two were students at the Decker School of Nursing and were previously in a relationship.

Earlier this week, Binghamton Police said they believe Tercero had left on a flight from JFK in New York to Nicaragua last Friday.

Tercero is being transferred to the prison in El Chipote, which is about 40 miles southwest of the capitol, Managua.
