CORNING, N.Y. (18 News) - It may be warm outside, but the Salvation Army is already celebrating Christmas. The Corning Salvation Army put on their first, "Christmas in July," an event to help raise funds for the community, all year-long.
The event was held at the Corning Country Club, on Thursday evening.
Nearly 130 guests filled the room and were able to participate in a silent auction, a wine pull, and dinner.
Captain Raul Rivera, of the Corning Salvation Army, said the purpose is to raise awareness for the programs offered by the Salvation Army.
"It is a beautiful opportunity to get the community together, and this is the first time, but hopefully we will enjoy this event for many years to come," Rivera said.
