ALFRED, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Alfred University is where Trooper Nicholas Clark attended. He played football here and this will be the location where his funeral will be held.
"The memories of Nick come from the coaches that had the opportunity, the teachers and the community members who interacted with him," Mark Zupan, the President of Alfred University said. "The outpouring of emails I received just attest to the quality individual he was."
Trooper Clark was a man highly revered at Alfred University. He graduated in 2011, but that reverence still persists.
"He's inspired our team to great things," Zupan said. "The coaches have said whenever there was a difficult situation on the field, he was our go-to guy that they called in to help come to the rescue."
The university will be hosting his funeral services. The wake is Saturday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., the funeral is Sunday at 11 p.m. Both services will be at the James McLane Physical Education Center.
"Get there early, we're maximizing the use of the parking lots," Zupan said. "Alfred State has been very cooperative and we're encouraging people to also use their parking lots, in partnership with them and then provide busing to them the funeral arrangements."
For those who cannot make the services in Alfred, there will be a public banner-signing at the Troupsburg Fire Department, also on Saturday. That will go on from 8 a.m. until noon
