ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 News) - The jury began deliberations on Wednesday to decide whether Akeem Williams is guilty of killing Tiko Head over his missing Xbox system.
Williams, 29, was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting death of Head, 44.
In August, a jury was unable to reach a decision, prompting a mistrial.
After the prosecution rested their case, the defense asked the judge to dismiss both charges on the motion that the people failed to show intent. The judge denied.
The defense had Williams take the stand, who kept a calm demeanor during cross examination.
On June 23, 2016, Williams confronted Head, who was living in the same apartment, after Williams could not find his Xbox system.
During the argument, Head was killed from a single gun shot wound to the rest.
The defense argues Head pulled out the gun from his pocket, during the confrontation and Williams grabbed it in defense. The defense says it was an accidental shooting.
The jury will continue deliberations Thursday at 9 am a the Chemung County Courthouse.
