Lyrid meteor shower lights up the sky this weekend

When is the best time to see it?

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - Attention star gazers! The annual Lyrid meteor shower will peak this Earth Day weekend.

The best time to view the "shooting stars" is early Sunday morning before dawn.

You'll want to look to the northeast near the constellation Lyra, the harp.  The radiant is near the star Vega. According to NASA it's one of the brightest stars in the sky, so it will be easy to spot.

There could be as many as 20-30 meteors per hour!

Just bundle up, star gazers. Our sky will be clear enough to catch some meteors, but it'll be cold! Our low temperatures both Saturday and Sunday morning will be in the mid to upper 20s.
