BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Former Erie County Sheriff Thomas Higgins was laid to rest. Higgins was the sheriff from 1986 to 1997.
Before that he was the undersheriff and served on the Buffalo Police Department.
Higgins was a Marine, serving in the Korean war.
Elected officials are praising his dedication to the his community trough high law enforcement standards.
He lived to be 88-years-old and left behind three sons.
