Funeral services for Trooper Nicholas Clark Underway

ALFRED, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Family, friends, and the New York State law-enforcement community will be gathering at Alfred University today to remember a New York State Trooper who was shot and killed in the line of duty last week.

Funeral services for Trooper Nicholas Clark will be held at 11 a.m. in the James A. McLane Physical Education Center.

The funeral is open to the public, and parking is available at nearby Alfred State College.

Reverend Donald Maynard will officiate the ceremony, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo is scheduled to attend as well.

Trooper Clark was responding to a report of a suicidal person around 3:30 a.m. when he was shot outside a home in the town of Erwin.

Investigators say the man inside the home – 43-year-old Steven Kiley – shot and killed himself after firing at Clark.

Kiley was a principal in the Bradford Central School District.
