HOWARD, N.Y. (WETM) - Thirty-nine animals were turned over to shelters and animal control after a tip resulted in the arrest of three people associated with Triple R Mountain Spring Farm.
The Steuben County Sherrif's office received a tip regarding several animals not sheltered in the harsh winter conditions.
Thirty-two adult dogs, six puppies, and one kitten were turned over to the Finger Lakes SPCA, the Hornell Humane Society, and Town of Howard Dog Control Officer Gary Hadsell after the animals were found with no access to food or water at that time and without appropriate shelter.
Several of the animals had untreated health conditions and were not familiarized with humans.
Donald T. Rush, 58, Gary W. Rush, 65, and Garner R. Rush, 69, of Feenaughty Hill Road in the Town of Howard were each charged with Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance, and Appropriate Shelter for Dogs Left Outdoors.
