#22 Syracuse survives North Florida 77-71

Syracuse University snapped a two-game losing streak Saturday night, returning to the Carrier Dome to cruise past North Florida 77-71.

The Orange – ranked No. 22 in the Associated Press poll and No. 24 in the Coaches’ Poll – shot 54.2 percent from beyond the arc, with Andrew White hitting 7-of-13 three’s, and freshman Tyus Battle going 4-for-5 from downtown.

White led SU with 26 points, while Battle scored 19 in his first career start.

Former Jamesville-DeWitt star Dajuan Coleman added a career-high 15 points and 6 rebounds, while sophomore point guard Franklin Howard had 10 points and a career-best 13 assists.

Sophomore forward Tyler Lydon only scored six points, but led the Orange on the boards with nine rebounds.

The Ospreys still outrebounded Syracuse 41-33.

Senior forward Tyler Roberson played just 11 minutes off the bench, finishing with just one point and 4 rebounds, while going 0-for-6 from the field.

Dallas Moore – the 2016 ASUN Player of the Year and North Florida’s all-time leading scorer – paced UNF with a game-high 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting.

The Orange lost two straight going into Saturday’s game – falling to South Carolina 64-50 and Wisconsin 77-60.

SU returns to the court on Monday when the team faces former Big East opponent UConn at Madison Square Garden.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
