ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The countdown continues.

18 Sports takes a special look at the Top Five Little League All-Star teams ever from the Twin Tiers. Now, it’s time for the fourth-best team to hit the diamond.

No team was as dominate and hard-hitting as Mark Twain in 1981. Not only did the team win Districts in 1981, but they finished as the Sectional runner-up in the same season. But, it’s what they did the following summer that vaults them on our list as a standout group of players.

Mark Twain won the Junior League District and Sectional crowns, only then to be defeated in the New York State Championship by Bayside, Queens, 6-5, ending their historic run in 1982.

With great baseball names like Trevor Thomas, Rich Shock, Dave Peters, Craig Masker and more, Mark Twain is a team who will stand the test of time in the 1980’s. Coached by Hal Schrock and Bill Galpin, Mark Twain captured the hearts of the Twin Tiers forever.

18 Sports brings you the fourth-best team on our countdown, the Mark Twain All-Stars from 1981 and 82.
