The third-seeded Cornell men’s ice hockey team defeated second-seeded Northeastern 5-1 on Saturday in an NCAA East Region semifinal at Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Mitch Vanderlaan, Morgan Barron, and Michael Regush all scored goals in the second period for Cornell as the Big Red built a 4-0 lead.
It is the first win in the NCAA Tournament for Cornell since 2012.
Austin McGrath made 20 saves in goal to earn the victory for Cornell.
The Big Red advance to the regional final against Providence at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
