CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) – It was a dream realized Wednesday in Corning.
Red Baron standout softball player, Michelle DiNicola, signed her letter of intent to play at Arizona Christian University in Phoenix. DiNicola put together perhaps the greatest offensive career in Corning Community College history.
The center fielder rewrote the record books and was a two-time Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, two-time Region III Player of the Year, earned first-team All-America twice and was the recipient of the Twin Tiers Sports Awards College Athlete of The Year last year. When you look at her numbers, without question, they speak volumes.
In all, DiNicola racked up 15 CCC records in her two years for the Red Barons. Michelle batted a staggering .523 with 34 home runs and 143 RBI to go along with 149 career hits and 126 runs scored in two seasons, all program records.
DiNicola also holds single-season best marks at CCC with 17 home runs, 80 RBI, 78 hits, 63 runs and an astounding 1.058 slugging percentage. Take a special look at her signing on campus Wednesday.
