The Elmira Express girls soccer team lost to Chenango Forks in overtime 2-1 in the STAC championship game on Monday at Marty Harrigan Field in Elmira.
Caylee Boorse scored a goal early in the second half to give the Express a 1-0 lead.
Emma Bough scored a goal for the Blue Devils with less than 19 minutes left to play in regulation to send the game to overtime.
Bough also scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime period for Chenango Forks.
The Blue Devils are the defending Class B state champions and improve to 13-1 this season.
Elmira is now 11-3-2 this season and will now prepare to defend their Section IV Class AA title.
Top-seeded Elmira will host fourth-seeded Horseheads in the semifinals on Tuesday, October 24th at 3:30 pm.
” Overall I can’t fault our effort. We gave everything we had. They are a quality team. I think they have only lost one game in two years and they are the state champs last year so for us to put up a good showing on our home field is great”, said Elmira Express head coach Zach Sarno.
