Elmira Pioneers celebrate the Fourth of July with a win

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM)- After an hour delay due to the weather, the Elmira Pioneers hit the diamond today matching up against the Watertown Rapids. The Pioneers were able to pull out a hard-fought 5-3 win.

A familiar face was back home, assistant coach of the Rapids and Big Flats native, Hunter Thomas. Thomas is a former five-year varsity baseball player for Elmira Notre Dame. Thomas then played his first two years of his four-year college baseball career in Watertown where he now coaches in the PGCBL.

As fireworks filled the air across Elmira, the 9 inning game was still able to be completed in its entirety.
