The 2017 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) is off to a strong start for the Elmira Pioneers.

Elmira has won five of its first nine games and is putting together a team that has their eyes on a PGCBL Championship.  Manager Brian Hill, who’s in first season as manager of the Pioneers at Dunn Field, tells 18 Sports what’s working well so far on the diamond.

Over the weekend, the Pioneers received some more great headlines. Former Pioneers pitcher in 2012, Jimmy Yacabonis, was called up to pitch in the major leagues with the Baltimore Orioles. In his first outing on Sunday, Yacabonis gave up four runs and four hits in an inning of work.

Elmira next plays at Dunn Field Tuesday night vs. Onondaga. First pitch at 7:05 p.m.
