Fast start leads Carolina past Elmira in game one


The Carolina Thunderbirds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on their way to a 7-3 win over the Elmira Enforcers in game one of the Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Friday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Kyle Stevens scored a goal later in the first period for the Enforcers to cut the lead to 3-1.

The Thunderbirds answered back in the second period with three straight goals to take a 6-1 lead.

Beau Walker had two goals and two assists for the Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds take a 1-0 lead in the series and will host game two of the best-of-five series on Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
