Joe Gilbert hired as new Tampa Bay line coach


Horseheads native Joe Gilbert is going back to the NFL. 

Gilbert has accepted a new opportunity to coach the offensive line with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and reunites with Bruce Arians. The move comes just two years after the Indianapolis Colts parted ways with Gilbert, who coached the offensive line for five seasons. Last year, Gilbert spent the football season on the college circuit with the Arizona Wildcats as a run game coordinator and assistant. 

Gilbert and Arians worked togehter in Indianapolis and both with look to right the ship in Tampa Bay. A coach for over 30 years, Gilbert spent several years in the college game as offensive line coach with stops at Illinois, Toledo, Central Florida, Houston and was also the head coach at Mansfield University in 2000.
