Joe Gilbert thrilled for NFL return

Horseheads native Joe Gilbert is getting a second chance at the NFL dream.

Gilbert, who’s spent over three decades in coaching at the college and professional level, was hired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their new offensive line coach. The move comes after Gilbert spent one year in Arizona as a run game coordinator for the Wildcats college program. Prior to his short time in Arizona, Gilbert was an offensive line coach and assistant coach with the Colts in the NFL.

The move reunites Gilbert with former Colts colleague, Bruce Arians, who was recently named head coach in Tampa Bay. Gilbert is more than thrilled to get another shot at the elite level of the game, an opportunity he never takes for granted.

18 Sports spoke with Gilbert about his new position and the excitement surrounding his next go around in the NFL.
