You see them in Elmira and now you can see them all through out Watkins Glen. The hometown heroes banners, which first started popping up in the city of Elmira earlier this year, can now be seen waving in the wind in Watkins Glen. One street in Watkins Glen even has every war represented in the banners dating back from the Civil War. There are currently sixty banners up now with more than 40 in the works for next season. There is even a military dog flag at the middle school. The banners are sponsored by Schuyler housing opportunity and were a community effort. The ladies say they are honored to finally have the banners up in the community. The banners will be taken down during winter and stored at a local high school where they will stay until the next season.
