It’s time for the next edition of 18 Sports Flashback and this time we go back to 2014.
That year, Edison grad Zac Bellinger put on a hitting clinic in the annual PGCBL Home Run Derby at Elmira’s Dunn Field. Bellinger went on to blast 14 home runs at the All-Star classic festivity to take home the championship.
Bellinger transferred from Virginia Commonwealth University to the College of Saint Rose in Albany where he finished out his storied career. At Edison, Zac was a first-team all-state pick and earned the NYS Class C Player of The Year as a senior. Bellinger was tied for second all-time in New York State history with 38 home runs at the time of his high school graduation in 2011.
