Elmira Enforcers primed for FPHL Championship

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) - The Elmira Enforcers are on a quest to make history.

Elmira is set to play in the Ignite Cup Championship series starting Friday night at First Arena when Columbus comes to town. The opening puck will drop at 7:05 pm followed by game two at First Arena at the same exact time Saturday night. If the Enforcers can win the best-of-five series, it will mark the first professional hockey championship in city history.

Waverly’s Ortiz to play in NCAA D-I soccer tournament

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) - A local standout has the chance of a soccer lifetime.

Siena College freshman, Melina Ortiz, will play in the NCAA D-I Women's Soccer Tournament next week for the Saints. Ortiz, who's played in seven games this season, will aim to help the program beat Arizona State in North Carolina next Wednesday, April 28 at Noon.
