The fourth-seeded Corning baseball team knocked off top-seeded Horseheads 3-2 on the road on Friday in the Section IV Class AA semifinals.
Freshman Aiden Chamberlin allowed only one earned run in six innings of work and struck out eight for Corning.
The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings on RBI base hits by Chamberlin, Blake VanWoert and Jacob Freeland.
Henry Juan hit an RBI single for the Blue Raiders in the third inning to cut the lead to 3-1.
With the win, the Hawks advance to the sectional finals to take on second-seeded Ithaca in a best-of-three series with game one at Ithaca on Monday.
Ithaca defeated Elmira at home 6-1 on Friday in the other semifinal.
In other High School baseball action from Friday, fourth-seeded Notre Dame picked up a 5-1 win at home against 13th seeded Walton in the first round of the Section IV Class C tournament.
Joe Milazzo hit an RBI base hit to shallow right field in the third inning to put the Crusaders in front 2-1.
Steven Gough added a two-run single up the middle in the fourth inning to give Notre Dame a 4-1 lead.
Owen Stewart struck out 15 batters on the mound for the Crusaders.
