The Corning Hawks softball team continues to make history.
For the first time in program history, Corning will play in the New York State Class AA Final Four. The Hawks will battle a very experienced East Meadow team, Saturday at 11:30 am in South Glens Falls. East Meadow (19-4) is the 4th ranked team in the state, while Corning comes in at 2nd.
Corning head coach Mike Johnston tells 18 Sports that the Hawks are battled tested, having played several strong out of section and state teams throughout the season. But, the Hawks (18-4) know that every team at this level is going to be very talented and strong.
If the Hawks win in the Final Four, the team would compete in the New York State title game later in the afternoon at 4 pm at Moreau Recreational Park. The winner of the Corning/East Meadow game will play the winner of the other side of the bracket, either Cicero-North Syracuse or Victor.
