The New York State Class AA state champion Corning Hawks softball team were live guests in the WETM studio during 18 News at 6 on Tuesday.

The Hawks won their first-ever state title on Saturday in South Glens Falls with a 4-3 win against Cicero-North Syracuse in 11 innings.

Eighth-grader Olivia Keegan hit an RBI single for the Hawks to give Corning a 4-3 lead in the 11th inning.

Atalyia Rijo and Ellie Daugherty each hit home runs for Corning.

Corning advanced to the finals with a 3-1 win in the state semifinals against East Meadow.
