Elmira College advances to UCHC title game

The Elmira College women’s ice hockey team will have a chance to win their second straight UCHC championship on Sunday.

The top-seeded Soaring Eagles picked up a 3-2 comeback win against fourth-seeded Manhattanville in the UCHC semifinals on Saturday at Murray Athletic Center.

The Valiants took a 2-1 lead in the second period as Ali Howard scored a power-play goal on a one-timer.

Elmira College tied it up later in the second when Maddie Evangelous put in a rebound for her second goal of the game to tie it at 2.

Morgan Mordini scored the go-ahead goal for the Soaring Eagles late in the second period.

Elmira College will play third-seeded William Smith in the championship game on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Murray Athletic Center.
