ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) - The New York City Police Department's hockey team are scheduled to be at First Arena to face the Elmira Enforcers.
This match is to be a friendly match and for charity for local organizations.
Enforcer's owner Robbie Nichols said that game is a way to show the team's support for law enforcement.
"They're the real heroes in this town," Nichols said, "I'd rather be a hockey player than a police officer. They have a tougher job than we have."
The announcement was made in conjunction with the Elmira Police Department.
"It's very entertaining to see the police and their abilities to compete with an actual hockey team," Chief Joseph Kane of the Elmira Police Department, said. "We're all excited for that and we hope there's a great turnout. We encourage the community to be a part of that."
The game is Wednesday, Jan. 30 at First Arena. Tickets are available on the Elmira Enforcer's website or by calling (607) 734- PUCK. Tickets are free for season-ticket holders.
